Our elderly 'at-risk' veterans who are food insecure as well as our homeless veterans need our help and support. The COVID-19 virus crisis has caused a downturn in charitable giving to nonprofit organizations that provide direct support in the way of food and other essentials of life.
In this age of COVID, our nonprofit has devised a way in which all grateful Americans can safely contribute to our food drive from the safety of their vehicles. We are extremely grateful to the Knights of Columbus for allowing us to use their parking lot for our Drive Up Food Drive.
Simply drive onto the parking lot and tables will be set up. Roll down your window and place your food donation on the table,All food contributions are delivered directly to the Department of Veterans Affairs Homeless Shelter and Community Center, 1500 Franklin St. NE, Washington, DC 20018 for immediate distribution to homeless and elderly veterans who access the center for food and other essentials of life.
Your donation of food will have a direct and immediate impact on the quality of life for veterans in the DC. Maryland and Virginia area. Below is a list of nonperishable items most needed by our elderly and homeless veterans. We also accept fresh food and meats however, we would need to make separate arrangements other than at this food drive for those perishable items:
Canned and Microwavable Foods: Tuna, Soups, Rice, Pasta and Pasta Sauces, Canned Veggies and Canned Meats, Crackers, Microwavable Ready to eat Meals, Mac and Cheese, etc Bottled Water, Gator Aide, Protein Drinks, 'Ensure' for Elderly Veterans.
If you are unable to attend, please call our office 202-6670-3525 to have your food donation picked up or make a donation DONATION to help support our mission of mercy - we are an all-volunteer nonprofit organization that conducts these food drives every month.
